or a possible motive. >>> in just a couple of how weres from right now the new boeing dream liner jet will be taking off from san jose airport for the very first time. in 30 minutes from now the federal aviation administration will hold a news conference tied to the safety concerns about that jet. ktvu janine de la vega joining us live. she is at ma theta san jose airport right now. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well all over san jose you can see signs touting the inaugural flight to tokyo. it takes off here from at 11:45. it's being operated by ana. what is being used is the 787 boeing dream liner. the faa will be holding a news conference to launch a major review of the boeing 787 boeing dream liner. this week there were numerous problems reported with the aircraft. one flight had to be canceled because of brake lines with the plane. on monday a dream liner operated by japan airlines had an electrical fire broke out in its battery. this has spark concerns and put a damper on the air sport here. >> i think the more convenient international flights we have here locally is great.

in the state legislature. jenna: rick, thank you. jon: just in, new problems for boeing as a pair of its brand-new dreamliner jets run into problems at boston's logan airport this week. we showed you on monday a battery fire that caused severe damage to a japan airlines plane. you can see the smoke pouring out of the hatch in the here. another japan airlines dreamliner dumped 40 gallons of rule on the runway. and there was a problem with the brakes system. boeing stock is taking a hit. jeri will list is the host of the business report on the fox business network and skwroeupbgs us now. >> reporter: the stock fell 3% yesterday, it's up today as people take in the news about the dreamliner. it is a critical product for boeing. they put a lot of money into it. it's technologically advanced made out of lightweight carbon fiber, it's supposed to save on fuel costs over time. they have 800 orders for these airplanes. as you know japan airlines has taken a couple of them here. united continental has taken delivery of these planes. they've delivered 49 of these planes. it's important to note here why

to get the secretary of state to drop it on russia or chinese leaders about boeing or lockheed? how does that happen? >> this is where the washington turf battles come in. actually, ostensibly, this is the job of the commerce department. there has been a program created right after the cold war called commercial advocacy. where major corporations, big companies can like boeing and lockheed, because they were the -- you know, the only company in their market, could apply to the commerce department and basically get officials to lobby for them and be their corporate cheerleaders for clearance. and you're talking about for government contracts. so if pudin -- these are government officials in other countries making the decisions to buy billions of dollars of airplanes from boeing. so hillary clinton is the one who gets to meet them and that means something. or the secretary of state does. so what clinton has done is she said, well, we're going to try to take some of this portfolio from the commerce department, because we're bigger -- the commerce department has been without a confirmed lead

travel, but today the faa is ordering a comprehensive review of boeing's new 787 dreamliner jets. today the cockpit window cracked in mid flight while over japan. another dreamliner reported an oil leak. on wednesday a 787 flight was canceled after crews found a glitch in the computer-controlled braking system. and there were two incidents involving japan airlines dreamliners this week. one plane spilled 40 gallons of fuel on the runway, fairly minor incident, obviously. on monday another suffered damage from a battery fire. dan springer is live in seattle. the transportation secretary held a press conference today, does he think it's safe? is. >> reporter: yeah, he does, but you've got to convince the public too. from design all the way through the manufacturing process. it was triggered by a series of electrical problems, the most recent and by far the most serious was a battery fire this week on a 787 that was parked at logan international airport in boston. a lithium ion battery that is used to power the plane when the engines are off apparently overheated. nobody was hurt. it follo

.o.d.'s negotiating position. the boeing refueling tanker, first of all, should mention we're still under a continuing resolution so that program like many other programs where funding was supposed to be ramped up it is stuck at last year's level soff it is $1 billion short. if you add sequestration on top of that and you appropriate a higher level you're still left short. s we had a contract we signed with boeing and the rate we were going to buy those tankers and now you're cutting the funding and we can't keep up our end of the contract so d.o.d. has to renegotiate with boeing. it is reported that boeing bid they bid very competitively to get that contract. do you think we're in a good position to maintain such a competitive price or is boeing going to walk out in a better position perhaps not losing money on the contract anymore. there are some areas that it is going to be bad for d.o.d. if they have to receiver -- sequester these accounts. >> so the short term is on them. probably be a severe cut back in training and that sort of thing? >> some of the options you have to look at if you have live
